What you will find here
- Every country and territory in the world, each with its own map and World Bank indicators: population, economy, governance, education, health, environment and technology.
- History since 1960: every indicator for every year, ready to download as Excel or CSV.
- Rankings in the world and in the region, changes over ten years and a comparison with neighbouring countries.
- Side-by-side comparison of up to four countries.
- Materials to print and download: blank maps, flags of the world, country fact sheets and data tables.
Our principles
- Open data only. We use sources whose licences allow free reuse, including commercial reuse, so you can reuse our figures too, with attribution.
- Every figure has a year and a source. The year next to a number links to the indicator at the World Bank.
- No guesswork. If the source has no data for a country, the field stays empty: we do not fill gaps with estimates from elsewhere.
- The same fields for every country, so that countries can be compared fairly.
- Neutrality. Borders and names on the maps are for orientation only and do not express a position on disputed territories.
How the figures are calculated is explained in the methodology.
Who it is for
Students and teachers preparing lessons, homework and reports; journalists checking a figure; travellers and people planning a move; anyone curious about the world.
